Aarupadaiveedu Sthalas

Tamil Nadu has various living temples which are dedicated to Lord Murugan being the son of Lord Shiva is known with name Kartikey in North India and his sibling Lord Ganesha. Among the temples dedicated to him, Aarupadaiveedu is the main highlight to all domestic people. Aarupadaiveedu literally means six fighting fields, the six highly valued shrines of Lord Murugan. The deities in these six well known temples shows different stages in Lord Murugan life. Worshipped in Palani Murugan as Dhandayudhapani, an angry child, In Swamimalai, Murugan as offering advice to his father known as Swaminathanaswamy, Senthilandavar and Bala Subramanya Swami and after the destruction of Surapadman and worshipping Lord Siva in Thiruchendur, after destroying the asura Surapdman, In Thiruthani as Subramanyaswami after marrying Deivayaanai in Thiruparangundram, with the wives Valli and Deivayaanai in Palamudhirsolai close to Alagar Koil in Madurai.

It is believed that Lord Murugan offers tremendous blessing over the devotees who visits all the six abodes and so people from all over the world flock here to offer prayers. Among all the houses the Swamimalai temple branch was built first. From regular rituals to special Pujas and also some festival are celebrated here in very traditional style. All these temples has been built from best granite stones which looks elegant in appearance.
